An IndiGo flight from Jeddah to Hyderabad was diverted to Mumbai early Saturday morning following a security threat email received by the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA). The message claimed that a “human bomb” was onboard IndiGo flight 6E 68, prompting immediate security action.
According to officials, the threat email was received around 5:30 am, warning authorities to prevent the aircraft’s landing in Hyderabad. Following protocol, the flight was diverted to Mumbai, where it landed safely under heightened security.
A spokesperson for IndiGo confirmed that the airline had received a security threat and immediately alerted relevant authorities. “Following established protocol, necessary checks were carried out in coordination with security agencies before the aircraft was cleared for further operations,” the statement read.
Authorities are now investigating the origin and authenticity of the email, which allegedly referenced LTTE-ISI operatives planning a “1984 Madras Airport-style” attack. Passengers and crew were reported safe, and no suspicious items were found during the security inspection.
